Our Services and Processes

Concrete Driveway

A concrete driveway is a permanent road surface that is made of concrete. It is a popular driveway option because it is durable, long-lasting, and relatively easy to maintain.
To build a concrete driveway,
  1. We will first grade the surface of the land using a bulldozer or other heavy equipment.
  2. Next, we will mix a batch of concrete and pour it onto the prepared surface.
  3. The concrete driveway will typically be about 12 to 16 inches thick and will typically be about 36 to 48 inches wide. In general, a concrete driveway is more durable compared to an asphalt driveway.

Concrete Sidewalk Construction

In order to build a concrete sidewalk, you will need a concrete mixer, trowel, and a piece of concrete.
  1. First, mix the concrete according to the manufacturer's specifications.
  2. Then, use a trowel to create the desired shape and size of the sidewalk.
  3. Finally, pour the concrete onto the desired area and wait for it to set.
A Concrete Sidewalk is constructed by first preparing the area where the sidewalk will be. This includes removing any trees, bushes, or other obstacles that may be in the way. Next, the concrete is poured and the concrete mix is prepared according to the specifications of the sidewalk. After the concrete is poured, the surface is smoothed and finished.

Concrete Patio

Constructing a concrete patio can take a bit of time and planning, but the end result is a beautiful and durable addition to your backyard.
Here are the steps to follow:
  • Decide on the size and shape of your patio. We'll need enough room to comfortably sit and relax, as well as enough surface area to accommodate your outdoor furniture and accessories.
  • We choose the concrete mix and additives that are best suited for your patio. Keep in mind the weather conditions in your area, as certain types of concrete may become wet or slippery in rain or snow.
  • Mark the location of your patio on the ground, using stakes and string. Use a level to ensure that the patio is level before beginning the concrete construction.
  • Pour the concrete in the desired shape, using a trowel or a bucket. Allow the concrete to set for at least 24 hours before using the patio.
  • Spread a layer of gravel or crushed stone over the concrete, to help keep it in good condition. Add your furniture and accessories, and enjoy your new concrete patio!

Concrete Flatwork

One of the most common tasks we are called upon to do is construct concrete flatwork.
This involves laying down a foundation of concrete and then erecting a series of beams, columns, and slabs that are all exactly the same size and shape.
There are a few key steps that we need to take to ensure a successful job.
First, we prepare the site by removing any existing vegetation and debris. Next, we mark out the outline of the structure on the ground using a set of gauges or a straightedge. Once we have the outline, we begin mixing the concrete according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Once the concrete has been mixed, we pour a layer of concrete about 2 inches thick and then setting the beams, columns, and slabs in place. Once the foundation is in place, we begin erecting the rest of the structure.
We'll need to use a trowel to spread the concrete around the edges of the beams and columns, and we also use a hammer and a chisel to trim off any excess. We make sure that the concrete is properly cured.
Once the flatwork is finished, we coat it with a sealer to protect it from the elements.

Concrete Steps

There are a few steps that need to be taken in order to create a concrete steps. The first step is to come up with a idea or concept that the steps will represent. After that, you need to figure out how the steps will be structured. Next, you need to come up with a design for the steps. After that, you need to create the steps themselves. Finally, you need to test and tweak the steps until they are perfect.
The first step is to create a to-do list that includes all of the tasks you need to complete in order to achieve your goals. Once you have your to-do list, you'll need to figure out how much time you'll need to complete each task. This is where your timeframe comes in handy. Once you have your time frame, you'll need to figure out how to best use your time to complete each task. This will require some planning and organization. By following these steps, you'll be able to create a Concrete Steps plan that will help you achieve your goals.

Typical Concrete Preparation Materials needed
and Construction Process

We begin by measuring the width, height and depth of the concrete walk. We note the measurements to create a pattern on the plywood.

  • Secure the stiles to the plywood using screws and the drill. Cut the cement to the desired shape and size. Combine the cement with the lump of clay and mix well.
  • Place the mixture on the walk and spread it evenly. 10. Use the circular saw to cut the cement mixture into the desired shape.
  • Use the jigsaw to cut the cement mixture into the desired shape. Use the masonry drill to drill holes in the cement mixture.
  • Insert the stiles into the holes and secure them with screws. Paint the cement walk with the desired color.

Expansion Joints

Did you know that, concrete expansion joints help to distribute the load of the concrete evenly, and help to prevent cracking or crumbling.
However, are they necessary in every concrete project? The use of expansion joints can vary depending on the specifics of the project. However, if the concrete is properly cured and the joints are properly installed, they should not be necessary.
If the concrete is subject to high pressure and temperatures, then it may be necessary to use expansion joints. For questions about the use of expansion joints please contact us at Ewing Concrete, NJ.

Tips to keep the Concrete Structure in Good Shape

Include your patio in the standard maintenance routine that you perform on your home on a regular basis so that you may avoid unsightly stains and buildup. You can keep your surfaces looking their best by sweeping away trash, wiping up spills, and even giving them an occasional cleaning with a gentle soap and water solution followed by a thorough rinsing with the hose. Periodic Power-Wash is also helpful to maintain a cleaner surface.  All of these are excellent maintenance practices.
